Pedestrian Struck and Killed on Coast Highway in Laguna Beach

The Laguna Beach Police Department said the woman was hit while crossing the street.

A female pedestrian was fatally hit by a vehicle while attempting to cross Pacific Coast Highway in Laguna Beach on March 10, according to the Laguna Beach Police Department.

The police say the crash occurred just before 6:25 p.m. near the intersection of Coast Highway and Mountain Road. Officers reported Laguna Beach Marine Safety officers found the woman in the middle of the road. The report says the marine safety officers performed life-saving measures, but the woman was declared dead on the scene.

She has not been identified yet.

“A preliminary investigation revealed that an adult female pedestrian was seen crossing the roadway on South Coast Highway near Mountain Road,” a statement from the Laguna Beach City read.

“The adult female pedestrian was struck by a sedan while she was attempting to cross the southbound lanes of South Coast Highway. Witnesses say the female was not in the crosswalk when she was struck by the vehicle. The deceased female has not been identified, and drugs and alcohol do not appear to factor in the collision. The involved motorist remained at the location of the crash and is cooperating with the investigation.”

Police say the fatal accident resulted in having to close down Coast Highway from Mountain Road to Cress Street for multiple hours that night. Additionally, the report says the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
